Interest in Japan is growing — not just in travel, but in its food culture, daily life, local traditions, crafts, and the way ordinary things are done here.

A lot of that rarely makes it online. Destinations beyond the well-known tourist spots, neighborhood shops, regional festivals, everyday culture — much of it simply isn't written about in a way that's easy to find.

This site is where you share it — the Japan that only you know.

Authentic Japanese is a board for sharing the Japan you've seen and experienced yourself — destinations off the main tourist circuit, local spots, and seasonal experiences that rarely make it into travel guides.

If you have been somewhere that deserves more attention, or you know something about Japan that most visitors never discover — this is where to share it.

• Harassment, defamation, threats, or sharing someone's private information without consent
• Spam, advertising, or repetitive and off-topic posts
• False or misleading information presented as fact
• Content that infringes copyright or other rights

We may remove any topic or comment that violates these guidelines, at our discretion and without prior notice.

This site is run by a single operator who works full-time on weekdays. Reviewing reports and removing content may take time, and responses often happen on weekends or public holidays. Removal is not guaranteed to be immediate.

This site is operated by a Japanese person based in Japan. I previously worked as a freelance engineer, and currently work full-time on weekdays in a PM / PMO role. Please note that I may not always be able to respond outside of weekends and public holidays.
